In my headcanon, right after he was sent back, Rory tried to search for the others, then he realised and sat down in confusion. Amy found him then.
I love those two and I miss them too x

The basic facts of The Pond’s relationship.
I’d have to respectfully disagree. Remember that time she ran off with the Doctor before her wedding day without a single word to anyone? Sure she was in a time machine and could come back in the same night, but what if she had died? And then of course trying to snog the Doctor in the same night. You know, before her wedding. And AT her actual wedding, she tells the Doctor that he may definitely kiss the bride… and says that they haven’t had a snog in the shrubbery yet so he can’t leave (The Big Bang). I’m taking this seriously because the writers are being pretty dismissive of the emotional abuse she’s pretty much hurling at Rory, and are only now, in Amy and Rory’s THIRD season, addressing Rory’s side of it (and STILL it’s about Amy and how she divorced him for selfish reasons - and they were selfish, to dictate their marriage and his happiness for HER reasons).
The very basic fact that Rory EVER had cause to doubt his relationship with Amy is pretty much proof that she has never appreciated him fully. Has she ever sat down with him face to face and told him in no uncertain terms that he is the one she loves? Because it seems to be a bit hard for her to understand that a dude might feel just a liiiiiiitle insecure when the man that his fiancee has obsessed about her entire life drops out of the sky again and he’s offering to show her the stars and bedazzle her with his awesomeness, while Rory’s just ‘normal’ and ‘boring’ and wants to stay in Leadworth.
Also, does she understand that while Rory does enjoy their zany adventures to a degree, he doesn’t like space travel because it’s dangerous? He only goes along with the Doctor and Amy because he wants to protect her, to look out for her because obviously the Doctor needs to be stopped sometimes. Even the Doctor (in the books at least) acknowledges this, and is one of the major reasons the Doctor respects Rory so much, while it seems to fly over Amy’s head (if it doesn’t, I haven’t found evidence).
And another point Rory has a reason to feel insecure - on paper she is Amy/Amelia Williams (from the divorce papers), but she only ever calls herself Amy Pond. For god’s sake she named their daughter Melody Pond, after herself. WAY TO GO AMY, TOTALLY making Rory feel like he’s really part of your life and not just a butt monkey for you to flirt at every now and then when you maybe want to make the Doctor jealous or something.
And oh my time lord GURL DO YOU REALISE HOW LONG TWO THOUSAND YEARS IS? WITHOUT SLEEP? That’s practically another thousand years. That’s more than TWICE the Doctor’s age. So Rory lived through THREE THOUSAND YEARS WITHOUT SLEEP TO PROTECT YOU and you ‘FORGOT’ how much he loved you (The Girl Who Waited) and think that it is ‘NOTHING’(!?) to giving him up (Asylum of the Daleks)!?!??!?!?!?!? How dare she decide what is best for Rory and then take it upon herself to SMASH HIS HEART TO SMITHEREENS after ALL he has done for her and WILL ever do for her? And how dare she completely invalidate his torturous existence of three thousand years just because she thought divorce was a better idea than talking to him about her infertility?
Ugh sorry guys I’m not really mad at Amy I’m mad at the writers (especially Moffat) who cannot seem to understand how to write a strong female character that is more than her ~emotional emotions~ and how they’re just ~so~ fickle and unreliable and also more than her ~child-bearing capabilities~ because in Moffat’s words, ‘motherhood’ is the ultimate womanly attribute.

This is how it would then go down:
“Captain Jack Harkness. You are?”
“Amy. Amy Pond.”
“Well, hello, Amy Pond.”
Rory just comes in “Hello. Rory. Husband.”
“Husband?”
“Yes. Husband. Is that a problem?”
Jack eyes Rory up and down “Not at all.”
